A major city healthcare facility had out grown its entry on a major street and wanted to compete more effectively for the healthcare of the city. Our design included the
entire seven-block facility and its surroundings. We remodeled an adjacent park and streetscape and moved the main entry 180° around to the former service area.
We reconfigured all areas including paving and grading outside the interior of the facility to reorganize the pedestrian, vehicular and emergency environment. The circulation
system is reinforced with planting leading up to a central entry plaza with a sculpture centerpiece we designed. The lighting reinforces the other elements of the landscape
that builds up to an overall image of quality care, serenity, and clarity of orientation.
We led a team of graphics, lighting, structural, civil, irrigation, and architecture consultants on this project. Our previous work with this facility gave the
administration the confidence to allow us to lead the team and to control all aspects of the final result. The president of the institution said that this 1.5 million
dollar project was the best money the medical facility had ever spent. Disabled neighbors now use the campus for recreation. We have accomplished many other projects for
this major healthcare provider over a fifteen year time span including a system wide, 27 facility maintenance program for all site related work from electrical to softscape
including interior planting.
