The state plans for 3 million square feet office space to accommodate state workers along a one mile portion of historic Route 66. Our design called for relighting the boulevard with efficient, cut off lighting, that framed the view, reduced light pollution, saved energy, and enhanced the processional sequence leading up to the State Capitol. We incorporated a double row of street trees along each side of the boulevard, redesigned the median to simplify crossings and introduced an elegant geometrically styled median with accent features and site furnishings. Seasonal color and banners are frugally used to enhance the festivity of the streetscape. TAP Architecture was the project administrator.
