A major medical center wished to distinguish its image in the competitive healthcare market. On the site's major intersection we created a functional and aesthetically pleasing site plan,
circulation, and a sense of arrival. New site lighting, planting, and hardscape items produced the desired upscale entry to refine the facility's marketability. The courtyard adjacent to
the main entry lobby provides visual relief for the elevator lobbies and a calming break area for emergency room personnel. The Jacob Braun Company, Inc. designed tables and chairs of French
limestone for this area to create a motif utilizing existing interior and exterior material elements. Provisions were made for massive snow removal in the Wisconsin winters, including heated
hardscape areas, snow plowing programs and hardscape details designed to mitigate damage from winter chemicals. The orientation of visitors is facilitated by direct circulation links between
the main entry and other major parts of the site. Holiday lighting and a year round Christmas tree adorn the site, creating a distinct and warm image for the hospital. The architects on this
project were Bobrow Thomas Planners and Architects.
